Although information has been gathered from reliable sources its completeness and accuracy cannot be guaranteed.
  • Staff will answer gratis specific questions that can be researched in ten minutes or less. Examples:
    1. Did Mary Richtmyer leave a will. She died in Greene County around 1870.
      (Answer can be found in an indexed source)
    2. Is Alfred Pratt listed in any cemetery inventory? He lived in Athens and died between 1810-30.
      (There is sufficient data provided to do a search)
    3. Do you have an obituary for Ruth Palmer of Catskill who died in March 1898 in Athens.
      (Question is specific and sufficient information is provided)
    4. Can you tell me the names of members of New Baltimore Reformed Church in the 1840s.
      (Question is specific and sufficient information is provided)
  • Staff will provide answers for a flat fee of $7.00 when pertinent information is readily
    retrievable (in the form of photocopies) from this library in-house-databank. Make check or money order payable to:

  • Staff will attempt to research for a fee of $30.00 per hour more complex questions
    requiring in-depth research of non-indexed materials like surname files; local newspapers; cemetery, census, church,
    and court records. Fee is $30.00 per hour, minimum one hour. Make check or money order payable to:

  • Staff will not research questions with non-specific data, too little information provided,
    or questions that require extensive research.
    1. I am looking for the parents of John Nelson. He was born in Greene County.
      Please send everything you have.
    2. I am searching for information on the family of John and Helen Bronc of Greene County.
      Whatever you can send me will be appreciated.
    3. I need information on the social contributions of the various ethnic groups in Greene County.
      I need this for a research paper.
  • Reproductions:
    1. Photocopies made by library staff are, depending on size, $0.25 - $0.75 per page
    2. Paper Copies of Microfilm Holdings are $0.75 per page
    3. Scanning made by library staff only, normal scan using flatbed scanner is $5.00 per image.
    4. Digital camera images made by patrons are not allowed.
      Images in JPG or GIF made by library staff are $5.00 each.
      Prior approval is required.
